The Hardest Parts Of Your BIG Day | 2 of 3 Part Series

Reception.png

Second installment of this little series! Wee!

I definitely feel like the second hardest part of the day is the reception. Not that it’s hard celebrating but you’ll want to cover so much ground in such a short amount of time. You’ll have your main priorities…

1. Do we celebrate & dance?

Your reception is a celebration of your love, your marriage, of you becoming a team. Everyone is there to celebrate with you.. Everyone also understands that it probably isn’t realistic to talk to every single person there. So I urge you and your fiancé to discuss exactly how you want to spend your reception. A majority of times my couples spend it on the dance floor getting their dance session on & I totally support this! DANCE! CELEBRATE! Say hi to the really important people (grandma, grandpa, closest relatives) but spend it having fun!

In my experience, dance floors with the bride & groom on them are usually more of a party then the floors without the bride & groom. A majority of people will filter onto the floor if that means celebrating with the new Mr. & Mrs.!

Again, this is all up to what you view as most important during your reception. But if your heart sits in dancing there is no need to feel bad about that!

2. Do we spend our evening talking to everyone?

This piggie backs off of the piece above. Do what YOU want to do during your reception. If that means taking in the good tunes from afar then follow your heart!! It’s your reception & if dancing isn’t really your thing then spend it mingling and celebrating with good discussion and laughs!

3. Do we really need to stop & eat?

A million times over & then some.. YES! You really do need to eat. You searched for the perfect catering company & chances are the food is delicious. You’ll be coming off the adrenaline high and you need to put some energy in your belly! Especially if you plan on having a cocktail, or 12 😉 Please take this time to eat, relax, and take in your surroundings! Another way to ensure that this happens? Do your speeches either before dinner or after.. Not during! In my experience, speeches that happen during dinner usually keeps your fork down. Why? ALL eyes are on the head table & having people watch you eat is sorta uncomfortable. So keeping it before or after dinner gives you a few moments to enjoy the yumminess!
