Success is a funny thing. It’s also totally different when you run your own business & find that you’re the only one that defines your success. You have no superiors, no coworkers, no holiday parties, or employee of the month award.. It’s just you.
For a while I thought success would be shooting 35 weddings a year (which it still is) or getting featured in an online publications. Then it became thinking that charging 5K made you successful or working 80+ hours a week or having over 10K followers on Instagram.
Truth be told. Success is a never ending accomplishment. Every goal, every featured post, every dollar, every wedding, every Instagram follower, whenever you reach your desired dream the success bar gets pushed a little farther away from you. Like you’re running in a dream but never quite reach the finish line. It’s equally amazing and awful at the same time.
It almost makes me anxious.
Will I ever feel satisfied in my accomplishments? Will it ever truly be enough? I struggle with this sometimes.. Being an over achieving kind of individual I’m afraid it will always be a struggle and I’ll never feel as though I fully “made it” – Granted, I have a LONG way to go in a lot of these departments but still.. How does the entrepreneur ever truly feel successful?
Happiness. I know it’s cliche but it’s what I want most out of my life. Happiness is something that I’ve achieved & for that I’m beyond grateful. My life is pretty dang fabulous (But not limited on bad days either!) but all I want is to continue that happiness throughout my lifetime. That’s success to me.
