Disabling Facebook Messaging | For Photographers

I don’t know about you, but having multiple avenues of contact can be a little cray cray. You have the DM ability on Instagram, email, text/phone, and my least favorite of all… Facebook. Why do I not like Facebook messaging for page owners? It’s inconsistent in notifications (or maybe I just miss them) and recently they launched a little “typically responds in 15 minutes or more” notification. Now, that might not seem bad but in order to turn on the speedy notification page owners have to respond in 5 minutes or less.. 5 minutes.. Tell your bladder to stop producing liquid because you might miss your 5 minute Facebook window 😉

So with that said, I disabled Facebook messaging via page owners. How do you do that?

  1. Go to your Page
  2. Hit “Settings”
  3. Within “General” – 7 down it says “messaging” (You’d think they’d put it under the “messaging” category.. Sneaky devils!)
  4. Uncheck the “allow people to contact my Page privately by showing the message button”. This will disable messaging capabilities!
  5. Hit Save! Wee!

Now.. Are you wondering how people will contact you via your Facebook site?! Your “call to action” button will now be your best friend! I have mine linked to my contact form on my website! Easy peasy!

It’s not often that I get inquiries via Facebook, but when I do.. I automatically send them to my email! Either asking for their email or having them copy and paste their message to their own! 10 times out of 10 I have an email in my inbox within 30 seconds!
