I’ve been looking forward to photographing Alex & Kendall’s wedding since the day we did their engagement session. At the picturesque Villa Belleza in Pepin, Wisconsin their day was everything they had described and then some. With stunning jewel tones and a stunning gown, these two celebrated with 75 of their favorite people. After meeting on Tinder, these two have quite a special story & I’m going to let them tell it..

On July 28, 2015, Alex and Kendall crossed paths when they both happened to be on vacation with their families in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. That Sunday afternoon, they swiped right on the popular dating app Tinder, after which he immediately sent her a message saying, “Glad we’re a match. I want to talk about Star Wars.” Within a day of talking, he’d already asked her on a date, and against her better judgment (since, as her mother kindly pointed out the day after, it’s probably not the safest to meet a stranger while out of town), she said yes. That Wednesday, they met up at his resort, and what was only supposed to be lunch at the beach turned into ten hours of talking, meeting his entire family, and even having dinner with his parents at a nearby restaurant. It was love at first sight, but because they both lived in separate states more than seventeen hours away from each other, they never expected to see one another again after saying goodbye…Four weeks later, they still hadn’t stopped talking, so he took a chance and asked her to be his date to a friend’s wedding the following month. She said yes again, booked a flight, and fell in love with Wisconsin as quickly as she’d fallen in love with him. Three months after that, Kendall accepted a new position in Eau Claire and moved to Wisconsin to be with him, and almost three years to the day they met, Alex proposed to her on another family vacation, with the help of their parents and siblings, in a butterfly house at the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in Saint Paul.
