I decided on a Lens…Drum Roll..

I was in a pickle the past couple of weeks. I really wanted to add another lens to the collection and I just wasn’t sure of which one to go with. I published a lens dream sheet article to express my debacle. Well I thought long and hard about the decision. I ultimately decided to go along with the purchase of the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L!!!!

What made me decide to go with the 50? Well when I bought my first L series lens there were two that I was deciding between. It was either the Canon 24-70 or the 50mm. With that being said I have dreamed and gushed over that lens for a while now. It has the style I want my photography to carry (shallow depth of field.. aka lots o’ blurry backgrounds and creamy bokeh).

I am hoping to add the 70-200mm f/2.8 not too long from now and that would round my have to have lenses for weddings. The 35, 85, and 100 are all lenses I desire but aren’t necessities for what I want to do.

My little baby arrived last Wednesday and I have to say I am in love. I decided to do a trial run shoot with my momma this weekend. Since the weather was above freezing I decided it would be a good opportunity. I absolutely can’t wait to use this lens during wedding day portraits!

& a BIG shout out to my momma for playing photog for these! She did such a good job nailing focus (which isn’t easy with a f/1.2 lens).. So really I owe it to her for doing such a good job!

So here are my favorites from the shoot. Is it lame to post my own shoot on the blog as a session? Probably.. But I am so excited about this lens that I couldn’t help it!
